About Faith & Freedom

Faith & Freedom exists to equip homeschool families by providing an educational cooperative that accommodates the unique learning styles and creativity of every child.

Our programming values outdoor education, experiential learning, and academic excellence.

Faith & Freedom
Educational cooperative

Faith & Freedom began as an alternative to public schooling during the Fall of 2021. While we appreciated the good public school educators, our families were frustrated with the compliance mentality of the schools. God convicted us as parents that our children deserved a more free and wholesome education than what they had experienced within the public schools. As brand new homeschoolers, we united to provide the education we needed for our children.

God blessed our genuine desires to better educate our children. We started in September 2021 with forty children in our Founder's house.  We soon partnered with a church and began a journey of discovering the beauty and freedom of homeschooling.

We've had some incredible hurdles and many growing pains, but God has been faithful. While we have always been a genuine community of families, partnering with each other to help educate our children, we only became formally organized in the Spring of 2024. We are now a non-profit corporation, called LHSS Services Inc, which stands for Liberty Homeschool Support Services, and awaiting our federal 501c3 exemption.

We sincerely desire to support other families homeschool, but whom are unsure and fearful on how to begin. (We were once where you were!)  Our future plans are exciting, as we believe God is calling us to provide greater homeschooling support to our community.
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline."
- 2 Timothy 1:7

amazement seized them all. they glorified God and were filled with awe. They Said, “We have seen extraordinary things today.”
- Luke 5:26

I was raised in Montana and earned my BS in Nursing from Montana State University in 2005. After moving to Michigan, I worked in the nursing profession for 10 years in the areas of Orthopaedic Trauma, Adult Neuro Critical Care, and Outpatient Surgery before answering God’s call to leave my profession and become a stay-at-home-mom in 2015. With God’s guidance and provision, my husband and I have appreciated both the blessings and challenges of raising our 6 children. In 2021 we felt prompted to begin our homeschooling journey. I discovered that I love teaching, but more than anything, I love learning alongside our kids, while cultivating and appreciating each of their unique gifts and talents. With the help and mentorship of my peers and colleagues here at Faith and Freedom, I have been able to extend that opportunity to other children in our homeschool community. In my (very little) spare time, I enjoy sewing and crafting, and I intermittently tend to my small Etsy shop where my creations are featured. I also enjoy volunteering as a catechist at our parish, teaching a Montessori-style faith formation program called Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.

As a person who has always had a passion for educating children, I finally have the opportunity to combine my passion and my family. Until recently, I have spent many years working in education. I have a Master’s in Education and possess the following teaching certificates: Special Education, Family and Consumer Sciences, Elementary Education, and Early Childhood. I also am a registered Behavior Analyst and licensed ABA Therapist. During my career, I’ve worked for Grand Rapids Public Schools as a special education teacher, Kent ISD, and Montcalm ISD teaching in the classroom setting, equipping teachers to be successful, and, also, writing curriculum. Now I get to use my passion and knowledge educating my own children and helping create this community for families that want different for their own children. I want to build something that continues to grow the vison that I have for not only my children but for the future. I hope to continue offering creative and fun educational classes to reignite a child’s natural desire to learn.
