As parents, you’re integral to the success of the co-op.  We desire to partner with you for the education and healthy development of the children in the co-op.  We ask that you familiarize yourself with our policies.

Classroom Information and General Policies

Please plan on bringing all academic materials on Wednesdays.  It is expected of every student to have necessary school supplies each day, like working pencils, erasers, notebooks, etc.  Every student will be provided a cubby for papers, which should be collected at the end of each day.  We will not be making copies for students who forget their books.  Other resources and materials may be provided by class leaders.

Science and Social Studies courses – materials will be provided but you will know ahead of time if you need to make any specific purchases.

While we are providing academic enrichment learning one day a week, it is still the parents’ responsibility to make sure the children are completing the independent work and understand the content. Parents are also responsible for the unit assessments. Parents are expected to teach the requested academic content at least twice per week in order for the child/ren to stay on track for the appropriate grade level.  The at-home work is not only crucial for the child/ren, but it enables each co-op classroom to progress through the educational content.  If a child consistently does not have the requested work completed by the next co-op class, the child may not participate in co-op classes.

The classes will be provided with a pacing guide that make sure there is enough time to finish the course book in the assigned year. However, if there are pieces that children do not finish, it is up to the family to complete them.

If you need help with any additional resources or need support please feel free to contact Jackie Billingsley or Malia Gregory to help with support for learning.

As a safety measurement, it is required for parents to walk their child/ren into the building for dropoff and pickup.

Behavior

Children will be expected to have respectful and appropriate behavior.  This includes walking in hallways, cleaning up after lunch, and picking up items when done.  Children and adults should use indoor voice and appropriate language.  Children and adults may not swear or use foul language during co-op.  If a child uses inappropriate language, the first time the child receives a warning.  The second time a call home to the parent will occur, and the third time suspension from programming will likely occur.

Children may not bring outside toys or non-school related items from home except on special planned days.  All food is to be kept in the specified eating area.  Snacks and lunch may not be eaten in classrooms.

Students are taught and should adhere to the following expectations:

  • Respectfulness
  • Safety
  • Responsibility

Also, students should practice demonstrating

  • Kindness and using kind words to one another
  • Trustworthiness
  • Truthfulness
  • Respect for rules and adults
  • Courtesy and respect for the property.

Children should stay in designated areas unless approved by an adult.  All children should keep personal electronics at home.  Teachers reserve the right to take electronics should they become a distraction.  They may not be used during class time.

As a parent, please ensure that your child is putting their items away and that items are gathered and picked up before leaving for the day.

Payment Policy

All money that is paid for tuition will be directly going to rent, supplies, and class leader pay. No payment is for any profit.

For both days, the cost is $900/child for the semester.  For only one day, the cost is $480/child for the semester.  By registering for the co-op, you are committing to the full semester payment, regardless of attendance.

You are encouraged to pay the whole semester upfront, however, for your convenience, payments can be made per month (but whole semester payment is required).  For both days, $225 is due the first week of each month (Sept-Dec).  For one day a week, $120 is due the first week of each month (Sept-Dec).

Full semester payment is required, regardless of the child/ren’s ability to attend due to illness or travel.

Volunteering

Parents will commit to help with one cleaning per month per enrolled child or will pay $25 per month per enrolled child. The cleaning time for Wednesday is 2:45-3:30.  The cleaning time for Thursdays is 2:15-3:00.  By attending this co-op you commit to volunteer a minimum of the required times per month or paying an additional amount.

Each family is required to sign up for their cleaning spot before the first day of co-op. Families that have failed to sign up will incur the additional monthly fee.  To sign up, the link is here.

Cleaning responsibilities include picking up, vacuuming, wiping tables, taking out trash, sweeping, bathroom cleaning, etc.

Illness

As the parent, you are the best judge on the health of your child. If your child is unwell, please keep them home. If a child is actively ill (fever, vomiting, cough, etc), we ask that they not return until they have been healthy for 24 hours and can take part in normal activities.

Once an illness begins to cycle through the co-op, please keep in mind we may have to close.

In the event of inclement weather, we will close. Typically, we will follow Rockford Public Schools, however, there may be instances in which we will differ.
